Raffaela Mariniello (Naples, 1962) lives and works between Naples and Milan. Her artistic research focuses on social and cultural issues, with particular attention to the transformation of the urban landscape and the relationship between man, the objects of his daily life and the places he inhabits.
In 1991, she began the project Bagnoli, a factory, the only historical account of the steel mill’s activities, which has been exhibited in Naples, Nates, Calais, Paris and Milan. Her Sourvenirs d’Italie series, exhibited at the Pignatelli Museum in 2011, focused on the transformation of historic centres of Italian cities as a result of mass tourism. In 2014, she dedicated a project to the tragic fire which raged through the Città della Scienza in her poetic, silent account entitled Still in Life. Her works are part of public and private collections, including: the Bibliothèque National de Paris; the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris; the Banca Commerciale in Milan; the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation, Turin; the Fond National d’Art Contemporain, Paris; the Museo Madre, Naples; the Naples Metro System; the MAXXI Museum in Rome; the Cotroneo Collection. In 2018, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Madrid organized her solo exhibit Alla deriva del paesaggio. In 2019, she realized the Under the Spell of Africa project as part of the Italia Cultura Africa programme under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the Donwahi Foundation in Abidjan.
She has been working with Studio Trisorio since 1995.
Raffaela Mariniello (Napoli, 1962) vive e lavora tra Napoli e Milano. La sua ricerca artistica è rivolta a tematiche sociali e culturali, con un’attenzione particolare alla trasformazione del paesaggio urbano e al rapporto tra l’uomo, gli oggetti del suo quotidiano e i luoghi che abita.
Nel 1991 inizia il progetto Bagnoli, una fabbrica, unica testimonianza storica sull’attività dell’acciaieria esposto a Napoli, Nantes, Calais, Parigi e Milano. La serie Souvenirs d’Italie sui centri storici delle città italiane in cui si evidenzia la trasformazione dei luoghi preda del turismo di massa è stata esposta al Museo Pignatelli nel 2011. Nel 2014 dedica un progetto al tragico incendio di Città della Scienza con il poetico e silente racconto Still in Life. Sue opere sono presenti in collezioni pubbliche e private, tra le quali: Bibliothèque National de Paris; Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Parigi; Banca Commerciale di Milano; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Torino; Fond National d’Art Contemporain, Parigi; Museo Madre, Napoli; Metropolitana di Napoli; MAXXI di Roma; Collezione Cotroneo. Nel 2018 l’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Madrid le ha dedicato la personale Alla deriva del paesaggio. Nel 2019 ha realizzato il progetto Under the Spell of Africa nell’ambito del programma Italia Cultura Africa del Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale presso la Foundation Donwahi ad Abidjan.
Collabora con lo Studio Trisorio dal 1995.
