Rebecca Horn

Rebecca Horn (Michelstadt, 24 March 1944 – Bad König, 6 September 2024) has exhibited in the world's leading museums and has taken part in the most prestigious international exhibitions, ranging from Documenta in Kassel (1972, 1977, 1982 and 1992) to the Venice Biennale (1980, 1986, 1997 and 2022). Her works are in the collections of museums such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Nationalgalerie in Berlin. One of her site-specific installations is part of the permanent collection at the Museo Madre in Naples. In 2010 in Japan, Rebecca Horn received the Praemium Imperiale for sculpture and in 2016 she became a member of the "Orden pour le Mérite für Wissenschaften und Künste” which is the highest honor bestowed upon artists and scientists in the Federal Republic of Germany. In June of 2017, she was the first woman to receive the prestigious Wilhelm Lehmbruck Prize in recognition of her work and her poetics which have profoundly influenced sculptural arts in the 20th and 21st centuries. The Centre Pompidou Metz and the Tinguely Museum in Basel dedicated the anthological exhibition Théâtre des métamorphoses to her in 2019-2020. Her extensive retrospective at the Bank Austria Kunstforum in Vienna, which opened in September 2021, came to an end in January, 2022. She has been represented in Italy by the Studio Trisorio since 2003. In April 2024, the Haus der Kunst in Munich dedicated an extensive retrospective to her spanning six decades of her career.

Nel giugno 2017 è stata la prima donna a ricevere il prestigioso Wilhelm Lehmbruck Prize come riconoscimento per il suo lavoro e la sua poetica che hanno profondamente influenzato le arti scultoree fra XX e XXI secolo. Fra il 2019 e il 2020 il Centre Pompidou Metz e il Tinguely Museum di Basilea le hanno dedicato la mostra antologica Théâtre des métamorphoses. Nel gennaio 2022 si è conclusa la sua vasta retrospettiva al Bank Austria Kunstforum di Vienna inaugurata nel settembre 2021. In Italia è rappresentata dallo Studio Trisorio dal 2003. Nell’aprile 2024 la Haus der Kunst di Monaco di Baviera le ha dedicato una vasta retrospettiva che ripercorre ben sei decenni della sua carriera.
