Sergio Fermariello

Sergio Fermariello lives and works between Naples and Capri. He won the Saatchi & Saatchi International Award for Young Artists in 1989. Following his first solo exhibition at the Lucio Amelio Gallery in 1986, his works became part of the Terrae Motus collection. He has exhibited in public and private venues in Italy and abroad including the International Kunstausstellung in Berlin, the Musée de l'Abbaye Sainte-Croix in Les Sables-d'Olonne, and the MAC Museum in Niteroi, Brazil. He participated in the international exhibition Metropolis at the Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin in 1991 and the following year he exhibited at the Yvon Lambert Gallery in Paris and at the III Istanbul Biennale. In 1993, he took part in the 45th Venice Biennale. In 2004, he presented the itinerant installation entitled Avviso ai naviganti at Pier 17 in New York. In 2015 he created La terra di nessuno, a large-scale environmental installation on the Litorale Domizio. Some of his works have been installed in the Quattro Giornate Metro Station and the Capodichino International Airport in Naples, and at the new Bocconi University building in Milan. One of his works has been acquired by the Capodimonte Museum in Naples.

Sergio Fermariello vive e lavora tra Napoli e Capri. Nel 1989 ha vinto il premio internazionale Saatchi & Saatchi per giovani artisti. Dopo la sua prima mostra personale alla Galleria Lucio Amelio nel 1986 è entrato a far parte della collezione Terrae Motus. Ha esposto in spazi pubblici e privati in Italia e all’estero come l’International Kunstausstellung di Berlino e il Musée de l'Abbaye Sainte-Croix di Les Sables-d'Olonne, il Museo MAC di Niteroi in Brasile. Nel 1991 ha partecipato alla mostra internazionale Metropolis al Martin Gropius Bau di Berlino. Nel 1992 ha esposto alla galleria Yvon Lambert a Parigi e alla III Biennale di Istanbul. Nel 1993 ha partecipato alla 45ª Biennale di Venezia. Nel 2004 ha presentato al Pier 17 di New York l’installazione itinerante Avviso ai naviganti. Nel 2015 ha realizzato sul Litorale Domizio la grande installazione ambientale La terra di nessuno. Alcune sue opere sono state installate nella stazione Quattro Giornate della Metropolitana di Napoli, presso l’Aeroporto internazionale di Capodichino e nella nuova sede dell’Università Bocconi a Milano. Un suo lavoro è stato acquisito dal Museo di Capodimonte di Napoli.
